TRAINING RIDES IN CALIFORNIA
The levee bike trail by the wind power generators.
Taking a break on a clear February day.
Resevoir in the East Bay
Riding past prickly pear cactus orchard.
Setting off from home on weekend tour with panniers
Mountain biking in the local hills.

Memorial Day weekend in the foothills of the Central Valley (Raymond to Mariposa on BenHur Road).
We enjoyed the open field of lupine, the beautiful weather and cycling.

Memorial Weekend Sunday we took a beautiful ride from Bass Lake along the Senic Byway to take in the snow capped mountain vista and the quiet roads and peaceful surroundings.... we got more than we bargained for. 73 miles and about 7100' of climbing.
Although we did not intend to be so close to snow (or get stuck in it) .. this may be great training for our high altitude riding days across America.
The endless snow march with bike in tow makes for an adventurous road bike ride.

After 3+ miles of snow hike/bike we are happy to reach Cold Springs Summit @7308 ft. and will soon learn we have another 1+ snow miles to go.

The above photos are from our weekend ride from home (Santa Clara) to the top of Mt. Hamilton down the back side to Livermore.
We spent the night in Livermore then the next day road to Pleasanton for breakfast then by Calaveras Resevoir to home. Total 135 miles.
